Patching the Old Way

Until now, applying JS ELS patches required several manual steps that interrupted your flow:

1. jumping into docs to copy dependency lines
2. deleting node_modules and package.json
3. reinstalling from scratch with npm i
4. validating everything by hand

It worked – but it wasn’t fast.

Those days are over! The example that follows are for our new ELS for Vue solution. This solution is specifically for Vue v2.7.16.

TuxCare Patcher for JS

The new TuxCare Patcher automates dependency replacement and installs patched ELS packages directly – no docs, no copy-paste, no cleanup.

The steps to run this are as follows:

1. Once you have your token from [email protected] and your .npmrc file created at the root of your project, you can install the TuxCare Patcher tool:

npm install -g @els-js/tuxcare-patcher --userconfig ./.npmrc

2. ALWAYS make sure that you are on the proper version of Node and npm for the version you are patching. Now that the tool is installed, you can run the installer in the terminal

tuxcare-patch-js

Congrats! Your patches should be up to date with the latest ELS release! If you want to double-check, pop into your package.json and node_modules to verify them.
